RESTORED 1947 ROVER 12 TOURER

This beautifully restored Rover 12 Tourer is number 51 of less than 200 built, and was first registered on the 9th December 1947. It comes with extensive paperwork and history to include logbook details of owners based in Devon, Lincolnshire and Kent throughout the 1960's and 1970's. By the late 1970's the Rover was in Cardiff where is stayed from 1977 to 2017, 2019 in Maidstone Kent, and finally to Leicestershire since 2022!
Whilst essentially the Rover is now an older restoration, it has had over £15,000 spent over the past five years with its previous two owners. Prior to that, whilst in Cardiff and owned by an ex Rover engineer, the car was stripped down and restored to a very high standard. From 2017 to 2019 the Rover was further improved with a new hood, tonneau and sidescreens, new window channels, electronic fuel pump, rebuilt distributor, new water pump belt, speedometer overhaul, the time clock was repaired and overhauled, new tyres fitted, LED lamps fitted, various items re-chromed. The Rover was also regularly serviced with paperwork on file covering all maintenance.
Since 2019 over £10,000 has been spent on the Rover, the majority of which covered a major engine rebuild. Invoices detail major work to including re-boring and re-facing the block, new pistons, timing chain, rebuilt cylinder head with new inlet and exhaust valves. Other work incudes rebuilding the carbs, and from Meteor spares new door anti rattle rubbers, windscreen wiper spindle seal, new running board strips and running board trims.
Its presented very well with an impressive paint finish and whilst not pristine due to many years since its last re-paint, it gleams and has a high quality finish. Chrome work is excellent throughout and the general presentation of the car is impressive. The body is excellent, the frame superb and chassis excellent. The engine bay is very well presented having being nicely detailed, and the weather equipment is all excellent. The upholstery has a lovely aged feel to it, the dashboard and gauges are excellent and the cars tool kit is present under the dash.
